Peyronie’s disease

How is Peyronie's disease treated?

Men with Peyronie's disease often feel a sense of hopelessness and think there’s nothing that can be done about their curved penis.6 In fact, there are a number of treatment options for Peyronie's disease.

The internet is often the place where men with Peyronie's disease look for information about treatments but unfortunately a lot of inaccurate information can be found, as well as alarming ‘horror’ stories. It’s best to speak with a doctor who is experienced in treating conditions that affect the penis to hear a balanced description of the available treatments.

Your doctor is the best person to recommend a treatment for you. If you think you have Peyronie's disease, please discuss the best treatment for you.

There are many factors that your doctor will take into consideration when deciding which treatment may be the most appropriate for the management of your Peyronie's disease such as: how long the curvature has been present; the extent and direction of the curvature; the location of the plaque; the impact the curve has on your sex-life; and the presence of erectile dysfunction, to name a few. Following assessment and consideration of these factors, your doctor may recommend treatment or may recommend that no treatment is required.

There are a number of treatment options available for Peyronie's disease, including:

  • Oral medications
  • Injections
  • Mechanical treatments
  • Surgery

Should you wish to learn more about the various treatment options, please speak with your specialist or doctor.
